Mentoring Opportunities

Mentoring relationships with mid-and senior-level investigators are key to the mission of ESIN.  Scholars and Mentors have several innovative tools to help them to create and sustain these supportive relationships.

Through ESIN’s Virtual Campus, members can:

  • Find a Mentor by accessing ESIN’s extensive database of mentor profiles based on discipline, research interest, institution, and other key characteristics;

  • Access the Mentoring Reference Desk, ESIN’s on-line collection of information and resources on mentoring approaches and techniques; and

  • Meet and interact using the Mentoring Conference Room, on-line space where they can chat, schedule research meetings, and share documents.

ESIN also firmly believes in the idea of peer mentoring, where colleagues can provide guidance, advice and consulting irrespective of professional title or rank.  The Discussion Board function housed on the Virtual Campus, in addition to the Research, Career, and Mentoring Reference Desks allow members to:

  • Post questions about research design and methodology;

  • Offer professional advice to anyone who asks;

  • Contact a broad audience of ESIN members and request their expertise;

  • Solicit informal career coaching from other Scholars and Mentors.
